Ranking the 6 NFL Super Wild Card Weekend games by watchability
This is The Morning Win. Charles Curtis is filling in for Andy Nesbitt.
IT'S NFL PLAYOFFS TIME! PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?! PLAYOFFS!
Yep, Wild Card Weekend is here, which is now called "Super" because there are so many games to watch over three days - that's right, there's a Monday night postseason game!
Maybe you're able to watch all six, but if you're not? Here's a ranking of all of them by watchablity, which is extremely tough given the matchups we're about to see:
6. Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs: I know Ben Roethlisberger was being tongue-in-cheek but yeah, the Steelers don’t have a shot. The Chiefs should take care of business in what might be a blowout.
5. Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I know it’s the Sunday at 1PM game, but I think this one also ends with the Bucs running away with it.
4. New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills: It’s supposed to be VERY VERY VERY cold on Saturday (ESPN’s Bart Scott told the world that Viagra helps NFL players with the cold, nope that’s not a typo), which may turn this one into a low-scoring affair. But the fact that Bill Belichick could lead this Pats team to an upset, along with the Bills’ balance on both sides of the ball is enough to get me to tune in.
3. Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals: As Andy Nesbitt noted yesterday, it’s been A WHILE since the Bengals won a playoff game. Beyond that, this Bengals team is fun to watch and the Raiders always make things interesting. I might be underrating this one at No. 3.
2. Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams: First off, this is the Monday game! It’d be No. 1 if we hadn’t seen Kyler Murray and Matthew Stafford have some struggles in December, but watching two divisional rivals go toe-to-toe for a third time this season will be fun.
1. San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys: The game that’s probably the likeliest to feature an upset. Both teams are balanced on both sides of the ball, and the offenses feature some high-flying, innovative play-calling. Plus, Niners-Cowboys was a HUGE rivalry a while back. I can’t wait for this one.
