The last time Brett Phillips took the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays in a blowout, it was must-see TV in 2021 when he threw an inning against the Toronto Blue Jays.

And somehow, he gave up just one run.

But on Monday night, with the Rays down big to the Oakland A's, it didn't go as well. Yet it was one of the most fun things we've seen in this early MLB season, with the outfielder throwing slow pitches, jokingly trolling the opposition and making one incredible defensive play.

Let's break down the whole thing, with a highlight reel worthy of watching multiple times:

He made an amazing defensive play

Just look at this catch.

He trolled Cristian Pache

After Pache hit one of his pitches to the warning track but not out, Phillips appeared to joke that the outfielder needed to hit the weight room more.

His pitches were SO SLOW

They went 46 mph.

But he gave up a grand slam

The A's won 13-2. What a thrill ride!
