Jimmy Garoppolo's safety in 49ers-Broncos game had Dan Orlovsky feeling vindicated

This was certainly not Jimmy Garoppolo’s finest moment.

During a low-event "Sunday Night Football" game between the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers, Garoppolo etched his name into NFL history books after a truly unfortunate and avoidable safety. With the 49ers up 7-3 in the third quarter, San Francisco was trapped deep in their zone on second and 10, looking to get out of their zone and extend their lead.

Sadly, it was not to be, as Garoppolo pulled a Dan Orlovsky and stepped out of the back of the end zone for a safety while attempting to avoid a pair of Broncos defenders on a pass.

Garoppolo's safety was the difference in the game, as the Broncos defeated the 49ers, 11-10.

The tape is as clear as day, as Garoppolo’s feet touched the white line at the back of the end zone before he released the ball. Immediately after the play, Orlovsky voiced his vindication at Garoppolo’s embarrassing moment on Twitter.

Of course, Orlovsky's embarrassing safety came during the Detroit Lions' winless season in 2008.
