It was a win that meant more to Ron Rivera than a victory on the field.
The Washington Commanders head coach lost his mother on Oct. 31, and on Monday, his team beat its first opponent since then, a 31-21 victory over the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
And Rivera was emotional addressing the team in the locker room - he could barely get the words out to the players, who encouraged him as he teared up.
But he said it: "My mother would have been proud."
He walked away, and receiver Terry McLaurin took over to talk about how much the win meant to Rivera and everyone in the room.
