Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divisional playoff round was a game to forget for the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott. The Cowboys quarterback threw two costly interceptions and struggled to make an impact against the Niners defense. Cowboys fans were right to be upset.

But you just wouldn't expect to see the official Dallas Cowboys Twitter account essentially throw Prescott under the bus. At least that's what it looked like.

After the game, the Cowboys shared an article from team staff writer Patrik Walker. The team promoted the article by tweeting the story's excerpt along with the link. The problem was that in quote tweets, NFL links don't unfurl. So, many users saw a tweet that looked like this:

Divisional playoff round winners, losers: Brock Purdy continues to win; Dak Prescott underwhelms

32 things we learned: Weekend signals changing of the guard at QB

What they tweeted was true, but it came off looking especially harsh from a brand account.

Fans couldn't believe that the actual Cowboys account basically called out Prescott like that — even if it wasn't the tweet's true intention.
