Michael Jordan reportedly having final say on the Hornets' draft pick is weird

The Charlotte Hornets have a monumental decision on Thursday night at the 2023 NBA Draft.
They need to find another cornerstone franchise player at No. 2 who could help LaMelo Ball. Should they take Alabama's Brandon Miller, the presumed better fit alongside Ball? Or Scoot Henderson, the G League sensation who could be the best player available?
The answer will fall to Michael Jordan. That wouldn't be weird, normally, for the owner and GOAT to make that final call.
But Jordan is selling his majority stake in the team soon. Yet GM Mitch Kupchak said this week that Jordan has final say.
What the what? Why? He should step back and let Kupchak make that call since he won't be at the helm soon enough. This is just all sorts of weird, and while I get that he's the head of the team on paper for now, if Jordan messes up the pick, it's new ownership that will be responsible for cleaning up the mess.
It's just weird. Anyway, good luck MJ! Hope you don't choose the wrong guy.
