Tiger Woods looks relaxed in crucial final round at Wyndham

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Tiger Woods, wearing his usual Sunday red and looking relaxed as he hit the practice putting green Sunday, has a lot to play for as he shoots for his first PGA Tour victory in more than two years.

Woods attracted massive crowds as he moved from the putting green to the driving range, and will have by far the biggest following during the final round. He likely needs to win to extend his season and qualify for the FedExCup playoffs. He could possibly qualify with a solo second-place finish.

Yet he said he’s having a blast.

“It helps to play better and the atmosphere is incredible,” he said. “The people are friendly and supportive. It’s just a lot of fun to play in front of them.”

Woods sits two shots off the pace after his 2-under 68 on Saturday, his third consecutive round under par (following a 64 and 65), and is tied for second with Jonas Blixt and Scott Brown at 13-under par. A record crowd of more than 34,000 fans turned out Saturday with an even larger crowd expected for the final round.

Jason Gore, who has a 30-year history with Woods, has won only once on the PGA Tour and that came more than a decade ago. He just regained his Tour card, and knows another win here would do wonders for his career.

He shot 8-under 62 Saturday to take the lead from Woods and rookie Tom Hoge, who shot 2-over 72 Saturday to fall six strokes back. Gore looks forward to a shootout against Woods Sunday.

"Yeah he intimidates. He's Tiger Woods,” said Gore, who played junior golf against Woods. “But my goal is to not beat myself. He's not in that equation."
