Zach Johnson featured in Deutsche Bank coverage

The Champion Golfer of the Year – Zach Johnson – headlines Saturday’s exclusive coverage of the Deutsche Bank Championship on PGA Tour Live.

Johnson earned the title with his playoff victory in the British Open on the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. It was Johnson’s second major – he won the 2007 Masters – and he’s in a good position to win his first FedExCup title as the second round of the second playoff event begins Saturday at TPC Boston.

Johnson, who started the tournament fifth in the standings, shot 2-under-par 69 in Friday’s first round. Brendon de Jonge set the pace with a 65. He led nine players by two shots after 18 holes, including Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter and Luke Donald.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy shot 70, world No. 2 Jordan Spieth 75 and world No. 3 Jason Day 68.

Johnson is playing with Stenson, who won the FedExCup and the Race to Dubai in 2013, and Dustin Johnson (70) at 9:30 a.m. ET. Stenson finished second last week to Day in The Barclays.

Coverage begins at 8:30 a.m. ET at pgatourlive.com, a subscription-based outlet for exclusive coverage.

The second marquee group features Danny Lee, Jim Furyk and Patrick Reed, who were Nos. 10-12 in the standings heading into the week. Lee shot 70 in the first round, Furyk 71 and Reed 72. Lee is trying to make the International Team for the Presidents Cup. The top 10 in the standings automatically make the team and like in the FedExCup standings, Lee is currently in 10th. Furyk and Reed, who are fifth and seventh in the Presidents Cup standings for the U.S., are assured of making the team.
