Brooks Koepka lips out on final hole, ties course record during final round at The Players Championship

Brooks Koepka had a chance at history Sunday, but fell just inches short.
After holing out for double-eagle on the par 5 16th hole and birdieing the famed island green on the 17th hole, last year's U.S. Open champion had a chance to set TPC Sawgrass' course record on the final hole.
Koepka's birdie try on No. 18 caught the edge and lipped out, setting up a tap-in par to make him the eighth person in history to shoot 63 at The Players Championship. Koepka's double-eagle was the fourth in The Players Championship history.
This year's leader, Webb Simpson (-19 heading into Sunday), shot a 63 on Friday. Before that, Rickie Fowler was the last to tie the record in 2016. He went on to win.
Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth had a chance at the record Saturday, but both finished with 7-under 65s.
Koepka isn't the only player going low Sunday. Kiradech Aphibarnrat was 8-under through 14 holes, Justin Rose was 7-under through 16 holes, Alex Noren was 6-under through 14 holes and Ryan Moore shot a 6-under 66.
