No golfers were around to witness an impressive hole-in-one this week at a North Carolina course, but there is clear evidence that it happened.
During a recent storm at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Moyock, North Carolina, a bolt of lightning struck the seventh hole with impressive accuracy. The lightning bolt appears to have hit the flag stick on No. 7 with such force that it knocked the flag off the stick.
The lightning also left a clear design on the green, leaving little doubt that the strike holed out.
“It was crazy -- I had never seen anything like it,” Eagle Creek manager Taylor Paasch told AccuWeather. “It was like it struck right in the hole and spread out from there.”
