2025 Memorial Tournament predictions: Odds, sleeper picks

Scottie Scheffler didn't win on the PGA Tour last week, and it did nothing to dissuade the feeling that the world's No. 1 golfer is on a roll right now. Oddsmakers have a repeat in mind given the way they've handicapped the field heading into the 2025 Memorial Tournament.

Scheffler is an overwhelming favorite to win for the second year in a row ahead of first-round action at the PGA Tour signature event hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus at his home course, Muirfield Village Golf Club, in Dublin, Ohio. Scheffler would become the first winner in back-to-back years since Tiger Woods, a distinction that seems more likely even after his weekend rally fell short at the Charles Schwab Challenge one week after winning his third major at the PGA Championship.

This year, Scheffler also won't have to compete against his top competition. Rory McIlroy has elected to skip The Memorial this year for the first time since 2017. He is scheduled to play at next week's RBC Canadian Open ahead of the 2025 U.S. Open beginning on June 12. Without McIlroy in the field at Muirfield Village, a wide-open group of contenders are bunched together beneath Scheffler in the chase to win Nicklaus' tournament.

Will it be Scheffler or the field? Here are the latest predictions, odds and picks ahead of the 2025 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, as well as how to watch the PGA Tour's latest signature event:

When does the Memorial Tournament start?

The 2025 Memorial Tournament is scheduled to start with first-round action on Thursday, May 29. The tournament runs through the final round on Sunday, June 1.

The Memorial Tournament 2025 predictions

Bill Rabinowitz, Columbus Dispatch: Justin Thomas (+1600)

"Yes, (Thomas) missed the cut at the PGA Championship, but in his previous four tournaments, he finished second twice and won the RBC Heritage in a playoff. Thomas has been shaky off the tee this year, but his putting has been terrific."

Adam Schupak, Golfweek: Collin Morikawa (+1600)

"He's winless since October 2023 and overdue to end his drought. Morikawa nearly won last year at Jack's Place, finishing second to Scheffler, but previously won at Muirfield Village when the course hosted back-to-back weeks during the return of golf from COVID. His vaunted iron game makes him a terrific fit for the Memorial, and armed with an improved short game and a reliable putter, he's ready to accept the winner's handshake from Jack on Sunday."

Will Gray, PGATour.com: Corey Conners (+2800)

"Conners doesn’t have a great track record at Muirfield Village, but he’s quietly putting together a pretty solid stretch to his 2025 season, and we’ve seen a few examples where the Memorial winner overcomes a (traditionally) iffy putter."

Memorial Tournament 2025: Sleeper picks at Jack Nicklaus PGA Tour event

Robb Oller, Columbus Dispatch: Matt Fitzpatrick (+4000)

"It's hard to call Matt Fitzpatrick a sleeper, considering he is a major champion (2022 U.S. Open) who has three top-10 finishes in six appearances at Muirfield Village Golf Club, but he has only one top-10 finish in 12 events this season and has not won on tour since the 2023 RBC Heritage (more than two years ago)."

BetMGM: Daniel Berger (+4000)

If Berger can solve his putting issues this week, no reason why he should be priced this high. Prior to his performance at Colonial (during last week's Charles Schwab Challenge), only Scheffler outranked Berger in (shots gained: tee to green) over the last 50 measured rounds. ... Prior to his missed cut at Colonial, Berger ranked third in both bogey avoidance and double avoidance. That renders Berger a strong buy-low candidate at the Memorial."

Chris Breece, Golfbet: Denny McCarthy (+5000)

"The signs are there for a breakthrough win. He shot a 62 to open the last signature event at (the Truist Championship). His good finish at the PGA Championship gives him more confidence and fire. His playoff loss in 2023 and a T5 in 2022 prove he’s a threat at Muirfield Village."

The Memorial Tournament 2025 prize money

The total purse for the 2025 Memorial Tournament is $20 million by virtue of being designated one of eight PGA Tour limited-field signature events. The tournament winner is slated to receive $4 million.
