Masters weather update: Forecast for Round 1 Thursday at Augusta

Despite rain closing the gates for Monday's practice round at the 2025 Masters, it appears the weather should be clear at Augusta National Golf Club for the first major of the year.
Gates were closed Monday due to rain and a threat of thunderstorms, which resulted in practice being suspended and patrons being evacuated from the grounds. Thursday's start, however, is projected to have much clearer weather.
Of course, the weather in Augusta, Georgia, is quite unpredictable, especially this time of year. The Masters is prone to having rain shift around the schedule, and 2025 will hopefully steer clear of those potential issues.
The tournament is set to start on Thursday, with the final round concluding on Sunday afternoon, per usual.
Here are the latest weather updates and forecasts for Thursday, the first day of the 2025 Masters:
Masters weather forecast: Thursday's first round
The first day of the Masters is set for lovely spring weather, with a high around 76 degrees and calm winds between five and eight miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
Things are expected to be much different come Thursday night, however, as there's a chance of rain and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service projects a 60% chance of rain, with a possible thunderstorm after 2 a.m. on Friday morning.
The NWS also says that Thursday night rain is only expected to be less than a tenth of an inch, although the amount could go up if there's a thunderstorm.
That being said, the tournament will definitely aim to finish the first round early on Thursday, to avoid Thursday night's weather and allow ample time to prepare for the rain expected on Friday morning.
