Truist Championship predictions: Odds, sleeper picks at PGA Tour event in Philadelphia

The final tune-up before golf's second major brings the PGA Tour to a course making its debut as a tournament site for the world's best golfers.
The Truist Championship is being held for the first time at the The Philadelphia Cricket Club's Wissahickon Course in 2025. The event is traditionally held at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, but Quail Hollow is serving as the host for next week's PGA Championship this year.
Rory McIlroy returns as the defending tournament champion in his first individual event since winning the Masters last month and oddsmakers have tabbed him as the heavy favorite. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won his first tournament of the year at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last Sunday, is not playing at the Truist Championship, but the rest of the PGA Tour's best are scheduled to be on hand when first-round action begins Thursday.
Designated as one of eight signature events on the PGA Tour, the 2025 Truist Championship features a limited field of 72 golfers, no cut and increased prize money. The Philadelphia Cricket Club hosted the U.S. Open in 1907 and 1910 on a different course. The 2016 Senior Players Championship was previously held on the Wissahickon Course.
The new dynamic has infused a layer of intrigue to the final tournament leading into another major. Here are the latest predictions, odds and picks ahead of the 2025 Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, as well as how to watch the PGA Tour's latest signature event:
When does the Truist Championship start?

2025 Truist Championship predictions
Will Gray, PGATour.com: Russell Henley (+2800)
"A lot to like … including his birdie average (fourth on Tour), Signature Event success in 2025 (Arnold Palmer Invitational cardigan still in the closet) and top-four scoring averages for both par-3 and par-4 performance heading to a par-70 track."
Jason Sobel, BetMGM: Patrick Cantlay (+1800)
"While he owns just one top-10 in his last seven starts, the other results aren’t terrible and his approach play has been through the roof, as usual. ... Cantlay is the type who can win a major championship and should be winning a signature event here and there. This one feels ripe for the picking and there are too many arrows pointing in his direction to ignore him."
Matt Vicenzi, Sports Illustrated: Ludvig Åberg (+1800)
"Åberg is one of the best players in the world off the tee and ranks seventh in his past 24 rounds in strokes-gained off the tee. Philadelphia Cricket Club is a course where players who hit it long and straight should have a sizable advantage."
Truist Championship 2025: Sleeper picks
PGATour.com: Keith Mitchell (+6000)
"There’s a lot to like this week about Mitchell, who is playing in the Signature Event on a sponsor exemption. Four straight finishes of T18 or better, including a runner-up at the Corales Puntacana Championship, show that his game is trending toward a second TOUR victory. He’s among the best drivers on TOUR … It’s been six years since Mitchell notched his maiden TOUR win, but having missed just one cut in 11 starts, he presents a tempting longshot option who could potentially surprise this stacked field."
BetMGM: Wyndham Clark (+5500)
"With just a single top-10 in 10 starts, it hasn’t been a great season for Clark so far … the actual probability is greater than the implied probability in his odds, which is what I’m seeking in a longshot outright selection."
Covers.com: Sam Burns (+5000)
"Sam Burns might be turning the corner with higher finishes in three consecutive events following a trio of missed cuts. … There’s an easy explanation for the poor results, too. He's lost … strokes tee-to-green and on approach. … He was better in both metrics last week in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, so if it carries over, his elite putting gives him a chance."
Truist Championship 2025 prize money
The total purse for the 2025 Truist Championship is $20 million by virtue of being designated one of the PGA Tour's limited-field signature events. The tournament winner is slated to receive $3.6 million.
