California high school basketball brothers set 102-point, 35-assist single-game records
Two California high school basketball players set records on Thursday night that you would usually see on a video game.
Mesrobian High School senior guards Nick and Dylan Khatchikian went off in a 119-25 victory over Pasadena's Waverly High.
Nick Khatchikian scored 102 points, and Dylan Khatchikian had a triple-double for Mesrobian in Pico Rivera, California.
Nick's 102 points came on 48-of-60 shooting from the field in only 22 minutes and also set a new California Interscholastic Federation state record. He came out of the game for good with two minutes left in the third quarter.
The previous state record was set by Tigran Grigoryan of Mesrobian in 2003. Grigoryan is now an assistant coach with the team.
Dylan Khatchikian channeled his inner Oscar Robertson with a 35-assist, 15 rebound, and 13 steal effort. The 35 assists are also a state record.
Nick Khatchikian scored all of his team's points in the first half. Mesrobian led 79-0 at the break.
