Chosen 25 RB John Emery commits to in-state LSU after initially committing to Georgia
After decommiting from Georgia, it always seemed like a matter of time before John Emery Jr. picked another SEC power. On Tuesday he finally pulled the trigger for in-state LSU, changing the dynamic of the SEC recruiting rankings in the process.
The Destrehan (La.) High School senior stands 5-foot-11, 206 pounds and is a powerful box of a breakout player. He's considered one of the top-three running back prospects in the Class of 2019 and is just outside the top 20 overall recruits in the class, per 247Sports' national rankings.
Perhaps more importantly, he's a Paste BN Chosen 25 recruit, marking him out as one of the nation's top 25 recruits regardless of position.
The decision to land on LSU went far beyond in-state proximity, according to Emery Jr.
"The new OC (Steve Ensminger) and the offense," Emery Jr. told 247Sports. "I didn't like the offense last year with all the motions. I love the change and the hype of the team. It's a change everybody can see. It's a successful team."

The addition of Emery Jr. virtually assures that LSU's recruiting class will be deemed a successful one, too. The Tigers' latest recruit moved the program into the Top 5 of 247Sports' team recruiting rankings, with every chance of moving higher still.
