Paste BN High School Sports Awards: Dallas girls soccer nominees


The Paste BN High School Sports Awards are slated to celebrate the top student-athletes in the Dallas area.

On June 18, 2020, at 6 p.m., Paste BN will fete high school standouts with a star-studded online show available free of charge to all viewers. The show will also be available on demand after the initial live event.

Here are the nine nominees for Dallas Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Landry Corbett

School: Independence High (Frisco)

Class: 2020

Position: Forward

College: Colorado School of Mines

Noteworthy: Corbett led Independence with 17 goals and 12 assists, including a hat trick in a 7-0 drubbing of El Paso’s Del Valle High.

Presley Echols

School: Highland Park

Position: Forward

Class: 2020

College: Texas 

Noteworthy: Echols broke the Lady Scots’ 22-year-old career scoring record of 145 goals by Meredith Florence when she notched a hat trick against Conrad High.

Sarah Hornyak

School: Southlake Carroll

Position: Midfielder

Class: 2020

College: Baylor

Noteworthy: A member of the National Honor Society, Hornyak showed her scoring ability when she netted two goals for the Lady Dragons against Keller Central.

Lauren Kellett

School: Coppell High 

Class: 2020

Position: Goalkeeper

College: TCU

Noteworthy: Known to rise up and seize the ball at its high point, the Cowgirls goalie stonewalled all opponents in District 6-6A.

Maja Davison Lardner

School: Highland Park

Class: 2021

Position: Forward

College: Georgetown

Noteworthy: After earning state final MVP honors in 2019, Davison Lardner was a major part of the Highland Park machine, netting goals and navigating through opposing defenses for deft touches.

Alli Mills

School: Southlake Carroll

Position: Goalkeeper

College: Wyoming

Noteworthy: Mills had 13 shutouts, and opponents scored more than two goals against Southlake Carroll only twice this season.

Hadley Murrell

School: Prosper High

Class: 2022

Position: Forward

College: Undecided

Noteworthy: The sophomore introduced herself with 12 goals in 10 games for the Lady Eagles.

Alexis Neal

School: Carrolton Ranchview

Class: 2022

Position: Forward

College: Undecided

Noteworthy: Tenacious on the attack, Neal soared atop the scoring leaderboard as she topped the Dallas area with 42 goals. 

Megan O’Neal

School: Highland Park

Class: 2020

Position: Midfielder/Defender

College: Georgia

Noteworthy: Before departing for the SEC, O’Neal negotiated her way upfield and notched four goals against Newman Smith.
