Bob Baffert to train Maximum Security after federal indictment on Jason Servis

In the wake of federal indictments on doping-related charges against trainer Jason Servis, Maximum Security will be trained by Bob Baffert, owner Gary West said Tuesday.

"Yesterday, Jason Servis, a trainer we have used for five years was indicted on multiple charges regarding using an illegal substance in horses," West said in a statement. "This news is extremely disturbing and disappointing. Therefore we will be moving all our horses from Jason Servis as soon as arrangements can be made with other trainers. Maximum Security will be sent to Bob Baffert."

Servis, along with trainer Jorge Navarro, is among 27 individuals who were indicted Monday by the Southern District of New York in Manhattan.

Maximum Security is best known for crossing the finish line first in last May's Kentucky Derby only to be disqualified for an on-track infraction.

He recently won the worlds richest race — the $20 million Saudi Cup — on Feb. 29 and was named the champion 3-year-old male of 2019.
