The 151st annual Kentucky Derby is officially a week away as we await the announcement of the post-position draw.

The Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the Triple Crown, has been a consistent feature on the racing calendar since 1875.

Last year, underdog Mystik Dan defied the odds to win the 2024 Derby, edging past Sierra by the smallest of margins in the "Run for the Roses" event.

"The most exciting two minutes in sports" is set to take place on the first Saturday in May and here is what to know about the 2025 Kentucky Derby.

When is the 2025 Kentucky Derby?

The 151st Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs is set for Saturday, May 3, 2025. Fans can watch the Kentucky Derby, which will be broadcast on NBC, Peacock, and USA Network. Streaming options will be available on Fubo (which offers a free trial) and Peacock.

2025 Kentucky Derby horses

What is the 2025 Kentucky Derby purse?

The purse amount for the 151st annual Kentucky Derby has not yet been disclosed. Last year's winner received a gold trophy, $3.1 million from the total $5 million purse, and the Garland of Roses draped over the winning horse.
