(Editor's Note: This story has been updated with news that Rodriguez and Grande were scratched from the 2025 Kentucky Derby on Thursday and Friday, respectively).

The 151st Kentucky Derby is just around the corner, sparking anticipation and excitement among horse racing enthusiasts. The first leg of the Triple Crown will take center stage on Saturday, May 3 at Churchill Downs.

The 2025 Kentucky Derby, "the most exciting two minutes in sports," has released the randomly assigned post positions for the 20 three-year-old thoroughbreds expected to compete in this year's race. The horses will race over a distance of 1 1/4 miles, and post position can greatly influence a horse's chances of success. Notably, no horse has won the Kentucky Derby from gate 1 since 1986, and no horse has ever won from position 17. However, as we have learned from past races, it is wise to expect the unexpected.

Here is the field of horses, and the latest odds from Churchill Downs.
