Craig Carton leaving WFAN, will continue with FS1 morning show
WFAN radio personality Craig Carton is leaving his popular radio show, The New York Post reports.
Carton has been doing double duty since September, hosting “The Carton Show" on FS1 in the mornings and teaming with Evan Roberts in the afternoon on the "Carton & Roberts" radio show.
“Today is a happy day and a very sad day for me, and it’s one of the most difficult days I’ll ever do in radio, because I am leaving WFAN,” Carton said.
“I love Evan Roberts. It has nothing to do with Evan Roberts. It has nothing to do with anybody here. It has everything to do with me and my personal life, and the opportunity that I have with Fox Sports to do a show on Fox Sports 1.”
According to the report, Carton will just concentrate on his television show, which pays him in the millions. His last day on the air at WFAN will be June 30.
Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber and actor Jerry Ferrara of "Entourage" fame are candidates to replace Carton on the radio side.
Carton, 54, was part of WFAN’s "Boomer & Carton" morning show with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason when he was arrested in September 2017 on four fraud-related charges. Authorities said Carton and a co-conspirator were involved in a Ponzi scheme, taking nearly $5 million from investors with the promise their money would be used to buy and resale concert tickets.
Carton was sentenced to 3½ years in prison and served a little more than a year before being released in June 2020.
