Max offering live sports from MLB, NBA, NHL through new Bleacher Report package

Good news for Max subscribers: you can soon watch live MLB, NBA, NHL, and U.S. Soccer events.

A Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On package will be available to subscribers starting Oct. 5, Max Warner Bros. Discovery Sports stated in a release Tuesday.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav first teased a live sports addition to Max in April. The new add-on follows through on that tease five months later.

“We want to be everywhere sports fans are," Luis Silberwasser, Warner Bros. Discover Sports Chairman and CEO, said in the release Tuesday. "And our unparalleled offering of leading sports, combined with the power of the Bleacher Report brand and content, including the unique way B/R engages with young sports fans, all delivered through the new Max platform will enable us to broaden our audience and delight new fans."

When will Max start showing live sports?

The new package release coincides with the start of the National League Division Series on Oct. 7. The MLB playoffs are less than a month away and multiple wild card spots are still undecided but live sports coverage of the games will be available through this add-on.

The release also comes ahead of the start of the NBA and NHL regular seasons on Oct. 24 and Oct. 10, respectively.

How much will the new Max live sports package cost?

A promo period providing the B/R Sports Add-On for free to Max subscribers will run through the end of February 2024. The add-on will cost $9.99 per month starting in March 2024.

Which live sports will Max carry?

Per the release from Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, the new B/R Sports add-on package will include:

• MLB postseason coverage, starting with the National League Division Series on Oct. 7
• 60 live NHL regular season games starting Oct. 11 with the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings vs. Colorado Avalanche
• 65 live NBA regular season games starting Oct. 24 with the Denver Nuggets vs. Log Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors
• The first NBA In-Season Tournament starting Nov. 14
• The 2024 NBA All-Star Game and All-Star Saturday night
• The NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1
• The 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball championship starting in March 2024
• 2024 MLB regular season coverage starting in April 2024
• The 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and NBA Playoffs both starting in April 2024
• U.S. Men's and Women's National Soccer team matches, including the 2024 SheBelieves Cup

NBA and NCAA basketball fans can still catch games on networks including TNT, TBS, and TruTV. The B/R Sports Add-On will just provide another option to Max subscribers with hundreds of games available as they air live.

In addition to live sports, Bleacher Report-brand coverage, shows including "Inside the NBA," and international events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car race will be available in the new package.
