Watch: Billy Hamilton gets jiggy with an incredible bunt single
Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton is known for his game-changing speed.
But on Friday, the rookie speedster added a new wrinkle to his repertoire when he showed he could stop on a dime to avoid a tag on a bunt single against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a jaw-dropping move.
In the first inning, Hamilton dropped down a bunt towards first base. Pirates first baseman Gaby Sanchez fielded the ball and attempted to tag Hamilton, who stopped dead in his tracks, and miraculously avoided the tag and reached first base safely.
He eventually went on to score to give the Reds a 1-0 lead and they went on to win 6-5.
A little hustle and athleticism can go a long way.
