A's' Sam Fuld OK after getting hit in jaw by throw
MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Oakland outfielder Sam Fuld can smile now, even with swelling on the left side of his face.
Back in the clubhouse a day after being hit in jaw by an errant throw during the Athletics' 3-2 victory over Colorado on Friday, Fuld was going over the options that will allow him to return to the field as soon as possible.
A's manager Bob Melvin said Saturday Fuld would not participate in any baseball-related activities.
Running to first base, Fuld was hit by a throw from Cristhian Adames, who was trying to complete a double play with pitcher Eddie Butler covering first.
He was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, where CT scans showed no signs of a fracture or concussion.
