Pirates' Andrew McCutchen out of lineup against Brewers
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen is out of the starting lineup against Milwaukee a day after taking himself out of a game because of left knee soreness.
The 2013 NL MVP's status is considered day to day. He left following his at-bat in the top of the ninth of a 6-2 win Friday night against the Brewers, the Pirates' first victory of the year.
Manager Clint Hurdle said he might be able to use McCutchen as a pinch hitter for Saturday's game in Milwaukee. Starling Marte is moving from left to center to replace McCutchen, with Andrew Lambo getting the start in left.
McCutchen is hitting .125 with a homer and two RBI over the season's first four games. He is hitless in his last 12 at-bats.
