The most important player in each of today's MLB postseason games

We've got another quadruple header Monday, with Game 4 of the American League Division Series and Game 3 in the National League. By the early evening, the ALCS could be set and two NL teams will be on the brink of elimination.

Who needs to come through today? Here's a look at a critical player in each game:

Yordano Ventura in Royals-Astros: The 24-year-old is pitching on three days' rest, but only threw 42 pitches in two innings of a rain-delayed Game 1 loss. Ventura has elimination game experience, having tossed seven shutout innings against the Giants in Game 6 of the World Series last season. He'll have to come through again for the Royals to avoid an early exit.

Prince Fielder in Blue Jays-Rangers: Texas has another chance to close out the series today and it would certainly help to get a contribution from Fielder who has gone 1-for-12 so far in the series. In fairness, Fielder isn't the only one who needs to step up as the Rangers' Nos. 3-5 hitters have combined to go 6-for-37 with just two RBI. Fielder has three hits and a home run in his career against Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey.

Anthony Rizzo in Cardinals-Cubs: The Cubs' first baseman has gone 0-10 in the postseason so far and the team desperately needs his bat to come alive in order to win two of the next three. Fortunately for Chicago, Rizzo is 10-for-22 with two home runs in his career against Cardinals starter Michael Wacha.

Brett Anderson in Dodgers-Mets: As if Slidegate wasn't hot enough, the Dodgers' Game 3 starter stoked the flames Sunday with a series of tweets about Chase Utley's suspension. The stakes didn't need raising with the series tied 1-1 and Matt Harvey on the hill for the Mets in Citi Field's first-ever postseason game. Is the lefty up for the big stage and the chance to tip the series in his team's favor?
