Nationals battled rain delay by turning on sprinklers

The Nationals' game against the Mets started after a 35-minute rain delay, but Nationals Park had the boldest strategy to combat the inclement weather:

Turn on the sprinklers.

Let's see how that plays out.

OK, so it wasn't intentional, but the left-field sprinkler system was briefly activated while the game was in a rain delay. Sprinkler water does not make rain water go away.

The contrast between the sprinklers and the message on the videoboard was spectacular.

Luckily, the sprinklers didn't extend the delay, and the game was able to start at 8:10 p.m.
