Tim Tebow admits he misses playing football
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Playing left field for the Scottsdale Scorpions, Tim Tebow on Tuesday found himself at Camelback Ranch stadium and within view of a familiar sports facility — the University of Phoenix Stadium.
That’s where Tebow helped led Florida to the national title a victory over Ohio State in the 2007 BCS Championship game.
“I have good memories of that stadium,’’ Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, said wistfully. “I mean, you definitely miss football sometimes.
“Thankfully I get to talk about it every weekend (as an ESPN analyst) and that’s fun. But yeah, there are times where you’re like, ‘Man, I miss it.’ I love the sport, it’s super fun.’’
In the past few years, Tebow said, NFL teams offered him a chance to make their roster playing positions such as tight end. But Tebow indicated once he ran out of options to make it as a quarterback, it was time to move on to baseball, where on Tuesday he made his debut in the Arizona Fall League.
“I love playing the quarterback position, so I wanted to pursue that,’’ he said while standing next to the third-base dugout at Camelback Ranch. “And then if that door closed, I was going to pursue something else that was on my heart, and that’s this game.’’
