Bud Selig elected to Baseball Hall of Fame by 'Today's Game Committee'
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - Bud Selig, who presided over the cancellation of the 1994 World Series, but then shepherded the sport into an era of significant growth and prosperity, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, along with longtime Atlanta Braves executive John Schuerholz.
Selig, 82, and Schuerholz were named to the hall by the Today's Game Era Committee, once known as the veterans' committee.
Other candidates under consideration by the committee included former players Harold Baines, Mark McGwire, Albert Belle, Will Clark and managers Davey Johnson and Lou Piniella.
