Tim Tebow remains hitless, starts in right field in second game for Mets


Tim Tebow remained hitless in his second appearance for the New York Mets, going 0-for-4 with one strike out in a Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback batted eighth and played right field.

In his first start on Wednesday, Tebow served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a hit by pitch and two strikeouts against the Boston Red Sox.

Tebow batted .194 with 20 strikeouts in 62 at-bats in the Arizona Fall League against top pitching prospects. He's expected to be assigned to one of the Mets' Class A affiliates in April.

Top of 3rd inning

In his first defensive action of the game, Tebow catches a slicing pop fly off the bat of Jake Marisnick for the first out.

Bottom of 3rd inning

Facing Joe Musgrove, Tebow hits a soft grounder to first baseman A.J. Reed, who tosses it to Musgrove, for the first out of the first inning. He took the first pitch for a ball.

Bottom of 5th inning

Tebow leads off the inning with a sharp grounder to third baseman Colin Moran. He makes solid contact off Reymin Guduan.

Bottom of 7th inning

Tebow grounds out to shortstop Anibal Sierra.

Bottom of 8th inning

Tebow strikes out to end the inning. He is now 0-for-7 in his first two spring starts.
