Twins clinch final AL wild card after Angels lose
The Minnesota Twins, who lost 103 games in 2016, clinched a postseason berth late Wednesday that ends a seven-year drought.
Despite a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians, the Twins clinched the final American League wild card by virtue of a loss by the Los Angeles Angels to the Chicago White Sox.
It's the organization's first postseason berth since 2010.

At the All-Star break, the Twins had just a 5% chance of making the postseason, according to FanGraphs. And at the July 31 trade deadline, they were 50-54 and 4½ games behind the second wild card spot.
This season the Twins became the 13th team in major league history, and first since the 2009 Seattle Mariners, to go from 100-plus losses to a winning record the following season.
Minnesota will likely face the New York Yankees in the AL wild card game on Oct. 3.
