Zack Cozart agrees to three-year deal with Angels, whose busy offseason continues
Los Angeles Angels GM Billy Eppler's active offseason of remodeling his team continued Friday afternoon with Zack Cozart being the newest addition.
Cozart agreed to a three-year contract, according to the Angels. It is worth $38 million, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
With Andrelton Simmons occupying shortstop, Cozart, another premier defensive shortstop, will likely shift to third base, where he joins fellow infield newcomer Ian Kinsler to help form what could be the best defensive infield in MLB.
Cozart had his best offensive season in 2017, posting a .297/.385/.548 (batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage) line with 24 home runs and 63 RBI, while also earning his first All-Star nod.
In addition to Cozart and Kinsler, the Angels also have re-signed outfielder Justin Upton, signed reliever Jim Johnson and won the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes.
