The Miami Marlins addressed their depleted outfield that was drastically altered this offseason.

Cameron Maybin, 30, signed a one-year deal with the Marlins, the club announced Wednesday morning.

Maybin gives the Marlins a veteran outfielder as starting option to go along with a young core. He joins a mix of outfielders that includes prospect Lewis Brinson, Derek Dietrich, Martin Prado and non-roster invitee Scott Van Slyke.

Maybin, who played with the Marlins from 2008-10, provides speed on the basepaths. He tallied 33 stolen bases -- which ranked fifth last season -- in 114 games between the Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros. He eclipsed 20 steals four times in his career, with a high of 40 in 2011 with San Diego Padres.

In the offseason, Marlins CEO Derek Jeter traded it's starting outfield from 2017 -- Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna -- to reduce payroll and to build its farm system.
