Tigers select Roger Clemens' son, Kody, with 79th pick in MLB draft

With the first pick in the third round Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers chose Texas second baseman Kody Clemens with the No. 79 overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft.

He is the son of former star MLB pitcher Roger Clemens.

Kody Clemens, a junior, has hit .346 with 14 doubles, 21 home runs and 68 RBIs in 60 games this season. Texas is in the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament.

The 22-year-old is 6 feet and 185 pounds, and bats left-handed.

With the first overall pick in the draft, the Tigers selected Auburn pitcher Casey Mize.

They chose high school outfielder Parker Meadows with the 44th overall pick, the first of Round 2.
