Following illness, Chris Sale will pitch World Series Game 1 for Red Sox

Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed that Chris Sale will start Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night, his first appearance since being hospitalized with a stomach illness.

Sale started Game 1 of the ALCS against the Astros and ended up being scratched from his schedule start in the fifth game.

"Chris Sale is our No. 1 starter. Most likely David (Price) will be Game 2," Cora told WEEI radio. "We’ll figure it out. We’ll talk about it as a group, but Chris is ready for Game 1.”

Sale went 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA across 27 starts in the regular season. This will be the first World Series appearance for the 29-year-old lefty.
