Francisco Lindor showed up to spring training on Thursday morning wearing the same New York Mets jacket – complete with all the pins – that Eddie Murphy made famous in the 1988 movie "Coming to America."
Acquired by the Mets in a January trade, Lindor is one of baseball's most fun-loving players, hence his nickname "Mr. Smile."
A four-time All-Star, Lindor is a free agent after the 2021 season but the team is hoping to sign him to an extension that would keep him in New York long-term. Such a deal would likely surpass $300 million after the San Diego Padres recently inked their shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. to a 14-year, $340 million contract.
