World Series national anthem singer Pearle Peterson's beautiful journey
A young Boys & Girls of Club of America member is getting the chance of a lifetime and will sing the national anthem at Game 2 of the 2023 World Series on Oct. 28 at Globe Life Field.
Major League Baseball designated the Boys & Girls Club of America an official charitable partner in 1997 and has allowed members to live their dreams of being a part of baseball in all forms. The MLB’s Play Ball Initiative gives members the chance to deliver the game ball to the mound for each game of the World Series. And this year, a member will sing the national anthem at one of the games.
18-year-old Pearle Peterson has been a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington for 11 years and has been an avid singer, working closely with a mentor at the organization to prepare for her performance in Arlington, Texas.
Peterson sang at the Boys & Girls Club of America’s National Conference talent show in the summer of 2023 and won the 2023 Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Youth Talent Performer title. Peterson will take the field on Saturday before Game 2 of the World Series, following Grammy Award-winning H.E.R. who will sing the national anthem for Game 1.

Peterson’s path to the 2023 World Series
Pearle Peterson said in an interview with the Boys & Girls Club of America that music has been a big part of her life since a young age and would sing karaoke while imagining it was in front of a large audience.
“I’m a small-town girl in a relatively quiet town, but when I’m performing, I truly feel larger than life,” Peterson said to the Boys & Girls Club of America. “It’s a confidence boost you can’t find anywhere.”
Peterson credits the Boys & Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington for always supporting her musical ambitions and, specifically, her club mentor for encouraging her to be the best performer.
“Not only is my Club mentor a fellow musician, but she’s my club confidante and shoulder to lean on,” Peterson said. “Her optimism, hard work ethic, and love for what she does inspires me and so many kids.”
When asked how she felt being able to showcase her talent on a stage like the World Series, Peterson said that it is still hard for her to grasp that it is happening.
“I know I won’t be able to fully grasp the gravity of this opportunity until I’m on the field,” Peterson said. “My Club reassures me that I’ve worked for and earned this.”
Peterson tells the Boys & Girls Club of America that she hopes to be an example for all the other kids with dreams that seem unachievable.
“When things seem tough, dont be afraid to get tougher,” Peterson said. “Dont lose hope, don’t lose drive, and most importantly, never lose your passion.”
