New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: Predictions, odds and picks for Game 6

The Los Angeles Dodgers will have another opportunity to secure a spot in the 2024 World Series, hosting the New York Mets tonight for Game 6 of the NLCS.

The Dodgers looked to be in total control of this series after winning each of the first two games on the road, but the Mets refused to go down quietly, putting up 12 runs in Game 5 to stay alive. Unfortunately for them, their reward is getting to head to Chavez Ravine just one game away from elimination. The Dodgers have gone 55-30 at home this year between the regular and postseasons, the second-best record in MLB (Phillies, 55-27).

Can the Mets force a Game 7? Here are what experts are predicting ahead of tonight's matchup.

Predictions for Mets-Dodgers Game 6:

Michael Arinze, New York Post: Mets are the better bet

Arinze writes, "While there’s no question that Los Angeles will set out to win the game, Roberts isn’t going to burn his best pitchers if his team falls behind. Thus, if the skipper takes a more cautious approach to managing his pitchers, there are more avenues for the Mets to pull out a victory. Given the possibility of such a scenario, the Mets inherently have more value as +124 underdogs."

Peter Dewey, Sports Illustrated: Sean Manaea UNDER 4.5 hits allowed

Dewey writes, "The Mets have their backs against the wall on Sunday for the second time in this series. They have to win this game to extend their season, so I expect New York to have a quick hook with Manaea if he doesn’t have it going early. That being said, that hasn’t been an issue for the lefty in the postseason. Manaea allowed just two hits across five innings in the win over the Dodgers in Game 2, and he pitched seven innings of three-hit ball in Game 3 against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS."

FOX Sports: Dodgers 5, Mets 4

The FOX Sports staff expects the Dodgers to win Game 6. They write, "Los Angeles is 62-37 this season when entering a game favored by -150 or more on the moneyline. The Dodgers have a 60% chance to win this game based on the implied probability of the moneyline."

Game 6 starting pitchers:

The Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to announce their starting pitcher for Game 6, but they are expected to opt for a bullpen game, leaning on players like Ryan Brasier, Michael Kopech, Blake Treinen, Anthony Banda, and Daniel Hudson to each pitch a few innings rather than one player pitching four-plus.

The Mets, meanwhile, will opt for southpaw Sean Manaea. Manaea was the Mets' starter in Game 2 of the NLCS, where he pitched five innings, allowing only two runs on two hits en route to a Mets' victory. Manaea has pitched in three games throughout this postseason thus far. In total, he has pitched 17 innings, surrendered five earned runs and eleven hits. The Mets have gone 2-1 in his starts, with their only loss coming in Game 2 of the wild card round against the Milwaukee Brewers.
