MLB free agency odds: Favorites to land top free agents Soto, Burnes, and more

The 2024 MLB season is less than a month behind us, yet teams are already plotting, wondering how they can convince the biggest free agents to join their teams for the foreseeable future.
We live in a different age of free agency now though. Players know their worth and are willing to wait for appropriate contracts more than ever before. Just last year, we saw numerous big stars wait through spring training before signing with their teams. While fans hope not to experience such torment again this year, it's very likely we experience something similar for at least a few players in spring 2025.

With big names like Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Alex Bregman, and Blake Snell as well as international sensation Roki Sasaki available for anyone to snag, fans could be in for a very hotly-contested free agency period with several of the big-market teams throwing their hat in the ring for multiple impact players.
Here are the latest odds for each of Major League Baseball's top free agents:
2024-25 MLB Free Agent odds:
*All odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, latest odds as of Nov. 7
OF Juan Soto
- New York Yankees (-145)
- New York Mets (+180)
- Los Angeles Dodgers (+1200)
- Chicago Cubs (+1800)
- Toronto Blue Jays (+2000)
- San Francisco Giants (+2000)
Undoubtedly the biggest free agent this offseason, Soto's odds would suggest that it is a two-team race at this point. Given that most sources believe Soto will make his decision in early December, it makes sense that his odds would be more settled than most other free agents.
SP Corbin Burnes
- New York Mets (+450)
- Boston Red Sox (+500)
- Chicago Cubs (+550)
- Baltimore Orioles (+600)
- San Diego Padres (+750)
- Los Angeles Dodgers (+800)
The New York Mets are in need of starting pitching, as they could potentially lose Sean Manaea, Shintaro Fujinami, Jose Quintana, and Luis Severino this offseason. With all the money the Mets have, they are favorites to land at least one of the big four (Burnes, Snell, Fried, Sasaki) starting pitchers, potentially more.
SP Blake Snell
- San Diego Padres (+550)
- New York Mets (+550)
- Boston Red Sox (+600)
- Los Angeles Dodgers (+650)
- New York Yankees (+750)
- Chicago Cubs (+750)
It appears oddsmakers believe a reunion between Snell and the San Diego Padres, where Snell won his second Cy Young award, could be in the cards. Although the Padres are not runaway favorites. What's shocking is the absence of the San Francisco Giants, who sit at +1100, 11th-best odds across the league. Snell reportedly loved his time in San Francisco, and the Giants were the team willing to give him a contract he wanted after all. Perhaps the Giants are the best bang for you buck option at the current odds.
3B Alex Bregman
- Houston Astros (+380)
- Detroit Tigers (+650)
- Toronto Blue Jays (+700)
- Seattle Mariners (+700)
- New York Yankees (+750)
- Kansas City Royals (+800)
The Houston Astros are heavy favorites to re-sign Alex Bregman this winter. Although many people have pointed to the Detroit Tigers as a perfect fit, it's hard to argue to Bregman staying close to home in Houston.
SP Max Fried
- Chicago Cubs (+500)
- Los Angeles Dodgers (+550)
- Boston Red Sox (+600)
- Detroit Tigers (+700)
- Atlanta Braves (+700)
- San Diego Padres (+800)
- New York Mets (+800)
Fried's former team, the Atlanta Braves, have just the fifth-best odds heading into December. While the Braves would obviously love to have their star southpaw back in the fold for 2025, the Chicago Cubs have already expressed immense interest in bringing Fried on board. Reports also indicate that the Boston Red Sox have already check in on him. Both teams could offer Fried more than what the Braves likely can.
1B Pete Alonso
- Washington Nationals (+450)
- New York Mets (+500)
- Seattle Mariners (+700)
- New York Yankees (+700)
- Boston Red Sox (+800)
- San Francisco Giants (+900)
- Los Angeles Angels (+900)
- Detroit Tigers (+900)
The Washington Nationals are not a team most people would consider a premier free agent destination. However, the Nationals are in desperate need of a first baseman after the team's current first basemen combined for 0.3 WAR last year.
The Nationals have a lot of young talent that started to break out last year, so perhaps the addition of Alonso would be the splash the team needs to convince other stars to give their organization a shot. Maybe in two or three years, this team could compete for a championship.
