It's an unmistakable sign that spring is on its way. Pitchers and catchers will soon begin their annual migration to various sites in Florida and Arizona to start preparations for the 2025 MLB season.

Why do pitchers and catchers arrive before all the other position players? Pitchers are creatures of habit and they need to begin their throwing programs slowly as they ramp up workouts and get their arms ready for live hitters. And of course, they need someone to catch all those pitches.

Position players will arrive at spring training roughly one week later. Here are the MLB teams that have announced when their camps are scheduled to open:

2025 report dates for pitchers and catchers

Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to their teams' spring training facilities on or around Saturday, Feb. 10, 2025.

The Cincinnati Reds (Goodyear, Ariz.) and Tampa Bay Rays (Port Charlotte, Fla.) are among the MLB teams that have publicly announced Feb. 10 as their reporting date.

The New York Mets (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) will have their pitchers and catchers report on Monday, Feb. 12.

Other clubs are expected to have their pitchers and catchers in camp by Feb. 14.
