Albert Pujols fronts $180,000 to cover salary of furloughed Angels employees, per report

Despite team owner Arte Moreno's $3.3 billion net worth, the Los Angeles Angels were one of the few Major League Baseball teams to furlough amateur and international scouts, plus minor league coaches and coordinators.
Halos veteran Albert Pujols is making sure the salaries of the affected workers in the Dominican Republic are covered, though, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Furloughs hit approximately 90% of the team's academy in Boca Chica, where many Latino prospects begin their careers in the organization, per the Times. Pujols' $180,000 donation is expected to cover the furloughed staff members in the country for five months.
Pujols' donation came after a conversation with Angels general manager Billy Eppler, the Times reported. He was due to make $29 million this season before the coronavirus pandemic upended the sports world.
While the league has not released anything official, the minor league season is effectively canceled.
