Blue Jays OF Randal Grichuk fouls ball off face, leaves game bloodied
Randal Grichuk took one to the face — literally.
The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder left Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles bloodied after he fouled a ball off his face during an at-bat in the ninth inning.
In what looked like a troubling scene, Grichuk fell to the ground as the training staff came out to check on him. He walked off the field with a towel pressed to his bloodied lip.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Grichuk passed the concussion protocol, but he was sent to a local hospital for a CT scan.
“He’s a tough guy,” Montoyo said after the 11-2 win.
“He got up like it was nothing and was walking out like nothing happened. He got hit pretty good.”
