Brewers place flamethrowing rookie Jacob Misiorowski on the injured list

WASHINGTON — Three days, three injuries for the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers placed right-hander Jacob Misiorowski on the 15-day injured list with a left tibia contusion ahead of their Aug. 3 game at Nationals Park.
Misiorowski was struck in the shin with a line drive in the first inning of his most recent start on July 28 against the Chicago Cubs, but stayed in the game and pitched four innings.
"I wasn't bouncing back as well as I was hoping," Misiorowski said. "I was still a little sore from getting hit. That's about it."
X-rays and imaging showed no further structural damage for Misiorowski aside from the bruise, which is being treated with a pressure sleeve. He expects to miss only two starts and the minimum 15 days, which could put him back on the mound in Cincinnati between Aug. 15-17.
"Nothing crazy," Misiorowski said.
Misiorowski's velocity was down a tick during his bullpen this week, but he said he still pushed to make his start in Washington.
"I'm competitive," he said. "I want to play every game. It sucks. It's not fun to sit on the bench. I don't want to go out there and not have my best stuff...I was trying to fight it a little bit trying to throw, but I understand. They're looking out for me."
Misiorowski already is within two-thirds of an inning of his career-high for innings as a professional, which he set last year with 97 1/3 frames. The Brewers will continue to monitor Misiorowski's workload as he progresses, but there aren't any worries about having to shut him down.
"It'll help with the mileage and stuff," Misiorowski said. "It's two starts that get knocked off. But I don't think there was any concern with it. I think it's just go until the end of the year."
Misiorowski's fellow rookie Logan Henderson was called up from Class AAA Nashville. Outfielder Jackson Chourio was placed on the injured list with a right hamstring strain on Aug. 1, and Sal Frelick left the game Aug. 2 with left knee soreness and is considered day-to-day.
