Loyola-Chicago team chaplain Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, who was thrust into the national spotlight on the Ramblers' Final Four Cinderella run this past March, was honored at the Chicago Cubs' opening day game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday afternoon.

The 98-year-old nun, in her wheelchair several feet away from home plate, threw out the first pitch under-handed — to a thunderous Wrigley Field applause on a 43-degree afternoon.

Sister Jean, Loyola-Chicago's team chaplain sine 1994, was given a custom-made Cubs jersey and decked out in a Cubs windbreaker coat to brave the cold weather (The team's game was canceled Thursday due to snow).

She posed for photos with Loyola-Chicago coach Porter Moser (a lifelong Cubs fan himself), Cubs manager Joe Maddon and Cubs team members.
