Elbow injury ends season for Cubs' Yu Darvish

The Chicago Cubs will be without right-hander Yu Darvish for the rest of the season due to a stress reaction in his pitching elbow.
Darvish, who signed a six-year, $126 million free agent contract with the Cubs over the winter, hasn't pitched since May 20 and has made only eight starts all season.
He was working his way back from a shoulder problem when he left his minor league rehab start after one inning.
An MRI revealed a stress reaction in his elbow and a triceps strain -- but no damage to his elbow ligament. Recovery time is estimated at six weeks, which would not allow him enough time to return this season -- even for the playoffs.
Darvish finishes his first season with the Cubs with a 1-3 record and 4.95 ERA.
