Dodgers acquire Michael Young from Phillies

The Los Angeles Dodgers, by far baseball's hottest team since late June, added one more veteran to consider for their playoff roster Saturday night by acquiring veteran infielder Michael Young from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Young, 36, was in his first year with the Phillies after a decade with the Texas Rangers. The seven-time All-Star joins a club that has all but wrapped up a playoff spot, yet already has right-handed hitting reserve infielders in Skip Schumaker and Juan Uribe.

Young, who grew up in Covina, Calif., about a half-hour from Dodger Stadium, is eligible for free agency after the season.

The Phillies will receive minor league pitcher Rob Rasmussen from the Dodgers.
