Dodgers set MLB home run record over five-game span
The Los Angeles Dodgers' home run barrage continues.
MVP candidate Cody Bellinger slugged his major league-leading 41st home run -- his fourth in the past five games -- in the Dodgers' 8-3 win over the Atlanta Braves on Friday nigth.
Max Muncy and Justin Turner hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning, setting a franchise-record for most back-to-back dingers in one season (14).
And Will Smith launched a two-run homer in the eighth inning en route to the Dodgers' 82 win of the season.
It's been that kind of week for the Dodgers, who just set a major league record with 22 homers over a five-game stretch. They also extended their record of hitting at least four homers a game to five consecutive games.
"It makes me look really good, and it makes the Dodgers look really good," said Dave Roberts after the game. "These are guys that really understand situations, what a pitcher is trying to do to them. Guys like that you want in big spots."
The Dodgers, who have outscored their opponents by 213 runs, lead the National League with 215 home runs and 687 runs.
