'Too late now to say sorry?' Topps apologizes for calling Indians' Shane Bieber 'Justin'
With the same last name as an international pop star, Cleveland Indians pitcher Shane Bieber has heard plenty of "Justin" jokes throughout his career.
Last year, during MLB Players Weekend, he leaned into it by donning "Not Justin" as his nickname on the back of his jersey.
But when Bieber found a Topps Stadium Club card that incorrectly referred to him as "Justin" in the blurb on the back, he decided to have some fun with it and tweet out a picture of the gaffe.
Topps, channeling one of Justin Bieber's most famous lyrics, tweeted back, "Is it too late now to say sorry?"
All appears to be forgiven on Bieber the pitcher's end. The 24-year-old was named the All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player earlier this summer and owns a 3.40 ERA in 22 starts during his first full season in the majors.
The error drew the attention of Justin Bieber, who quote-tweeted Shane Bieber's card photo later Sunday to his over-106 million Twitter followers.
"I feel like we have a special connection," Justin Bieber wrote.
