NEW YORK — Jacob deGrom is going to miss some time.

The New York Mets will be placing their ace on the injured list Tuesday, the team announced via social media Monday afternoon.

The team said his MRI results "were clean of any issues" and are calling it "right side tightness."

DeGrom left Sunday's win over Arizona before the sixth inning. He threw two warmup pitches, then signaled to the dugout. Manager Luis Rojas and head athletic trainer Brian Chicklo went out to check on the right-hander and, after they evaluated him for a couple minutes, deGrom left the game and immediately went down the dugout tunnel.

The Mets called the injury right side tightness. Rojas said deGrom felt it in his lower back.

“He was down," Rojas said of deGrom's mood. "He wanted to pitch through it. He was asking us. But he did the right thing."

After missing a start due to right lat tightness, deGrom tossed five innings of one-run baseball against the Diamondbacks. The right-hander has a MLB-leading 0.68 ERA through six starts.
