NEW YORK — A fan was on the field at Citi Field during the Sunday night game between the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants but not for the reason you might expect.
Before Francisco Alvarez's at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning, home-plate umpire Stu Scheurwater called timeout as a man was spotted on the warning track in left-center field after tumbling over the railing.
The man clutched his face and raised his hands as security rushed to apprehend him.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the man was shown beyond the left-center field wall on the ESPN broadcast with his nose bandaged and sharing a laugh with the fans around him.
