Bryce Harper fires insane 310-foot throw from right field to third base for out vs. Nationals
Bryce Harper became a thorn in his former team's side in his first game back in Washington, when he smacked a homer deep to right field at Nationals Park and flipped his bat.
Harper, who signed a 13-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason after seven years with the Nationals, has not relented in showing out against his old team.
With one out in the second inning at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Nationals outfielder Victor Robles stroked an extra-base hit into the right-center field gap.
Manning right field, Harper played the ball off the wall and picked it up on the warning track. Robles attempted to leg out a triple, but Harper fired a 310-foot throw that reached third baseman Maikel Franco on the fly to retire the speedy outfielder.
According to Statcast, Harper's throw reached 93.5 mph.
It hasn't all been smooth sailing for Harper since his departure from Washington. Entering Saturday, the six-time All-Star was batting .256/.371/.470 with 16 homers and 62 RBI.
Saturday night, the Nationals ended up getting the last laugh. With two outs in the ninth, Washington's Juan Soto launched a two-run homer to give the Nats a 4-3 lead.
They held on to improve to 49-42, while Harper's Phillies slipped to 47-45.
